Classic W&M Physical Theatre, dense with movement and structured stillness ñ a highly visual world of gritty, physical dance movement and theatrical scenes ñ exploring bodies for sale. Strongly interdisciplinary, Skins integrates video, dance, sound design, and theatre, featuring Monteros and Mochniej, with guest artist Davida Monk.

Founded in Poland, W&M Physical Theatre has made Calgary its half-year residence for almost a decade. The influence of Polish physical theatre on W&M is unmistakable, as in this work, based on a story of bodies for sale from the Polish press.

"Skins-thin, tissue like layers: I wanted to explore these layers which we paint, lubricate, prime and present to world as authentic. This barrier ñ it holds, protects. This idea of skin as a container; for the Heart, for the Soul...emptied and for sale to the highest bidder. This was interesting to me."
